Newcastle Brown Ale: If We Won

  • Every Independence Day, American beer companies festoon their cans with stars and stripes and basically exploit your patriotism, along with the outcome of a 250-year old war, to sell you beer. Well, Newcastle Brown Ale thinks that’s bollocks. Mostly because they don’t have their own holiday to exploit. That’s why Droga5 created Independence Eve, a pseudo American holiday created to celebrate the last days of British rule over America. And also, just to sell lots of British beer. The campaign included over 15 pieces of content with appearances from British and American personalities Stephen Merchant, Elizabeth Hurley, and Zachary Quinto envisioning how great America could’ve been if the Brits won the Revolutionary War. The videos and social content focused on encouraging Americans to grab a Newcastle Brown Ale and toast to the country that nearly ran ours.
