Senior Data Strategist

You will be joining the Data Strategy team in the capacity of a Senior Data Strategist. Data Strategy is part of the Strategic Planning group at Droga5. Senior Data Strategists you are part of the team to transform “Big data” and little data into meaningful insights for creative inspiration and benchmarks for tracking our clients’ businesses and brands. 

This is a hands-on strategic position – you’ll be working side-by-side with other strategy disciplines, the technology department, and creative teams.

Essential Functions:

  • Acts as a day-to-day internal and external client resource
  • Leads client or internal teams through multiple projects from start to finish, providing relevant data points or subject expertise
  • Shows good business judgment
  • Delivers presentations with confidence, and is able to discuss issues as well as facts in response to questions
  • Ability to liaise seamlessly with partner agencies
  • Distill data into useful insights for consumer, category, and brand shape strategy
  • Understands the quantified relationship among buzz, marketing, and business metrics
  • Work with other strategists (digital, communications, brand), creative team, production, and account services to set measurable benchmarks for campaign effectiveness
  • Incorporate metrics into the feedback loop of UX design
  • Proactively identifies/resolves project issues, escalating and actively “managing up” as appropriate
  • Helps estimate time and effort for project needs
  • Comfort working with technology vendors to augment the data strategy practice
  • Understands and possesses deep knowledge of client’s business, including financials, industry, competitive landscape, marketing channels and strategic direction
  • Demonstrates ability to synthesize data and themes from analysis into compelling and digestible stories
  • Clearly articulates and shares insights and implications derived from analysis
  • With guidance, sets up and provides reporting, measurements, and defines key optimization points across several channels, including brand, website, email, online media, ecommerce, social media, mobile, mobile applications, retail, and video
  • Independently structures and forecasts single channel initiatives
  • Builds effective dashboards and reporting frameworks for ongoing brand and campaign work
  • Determines, calculates, and interprets key metrics
  • Knows and actively uses QA data practices
  • Takes ownership of deliverables and small projects, managing independently and efficiently
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize tasks, and helps direct others

Job Qualifications

  • Expertise with at least three of the following: web analytics (Google Analytics, Adobe Omniture, WebTrends), social analytics (listening and native platforms), syndicated research, primary research, data and technology integration, media analytics, client databases
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A friendly, down-to-earth nature
  • Interest in the creative process
  • Solid understanding of the fundamentals of campaign development, social media, online advertising, site design
  • Creative agency background in multichannel work preferred
